Scotland’s Winter Mountains with one axe

A new guidebook describing 30 winter journeys in the Scottish mountains. All the selected routes are easily accessible and can be completed within a winter’s day.
Each can be done with a single axe, in a traditional mountaineering style.

The guide has been carefully laid out, sticking to a simple design throughout. The easy on the eye pages, along with the book’s detailed bespoke maps and 117 colour photos, will transport you to the winter mountains from the comfort of an armchair.

All the classic mountaineering ridges have been included, such as An Teallach, Liathach and the Aonach Eagach, along with the big gullies of the Northwest. The book also features a handful of easier journeys, providing a nice step-up from winter walking.

North Wales Scrambles

A pocket guidebook providing descriptions for 50 of the best mountain scrambles in Snowdonia. All the selected scrambles are clearly shown on precisely drawn topos and their approach routes are described with the aid of bespoke maps.

The guide is laid out in an easy-to-use, uncluttered format, which is perfect for reading when on the hill. It is supplemented with 98 colour photos that showcase Snowdonia’s extraordinary mountain scenery.

All the well-known classic scrambles of the area are included, such as the North Ridge of Tryfan and the traverse of Crib Goch. The book also features a selection of excellent ‘off the beaten track’ scrambles – routes that take the reader to the less-frequented cliffs and cwms of Snowdonia.
