Scotland’s Winter Mountains with one axe

A guide to thirty journeys through the Scottish mountains – journeys that can be done with a single axe, in a traditional mountaineering style. All are easily accessible and possible to complete within a winter’s day.

Designed to be read in the comfort of an armchair, from where detailed maps and untampered-with photos will transport you to the winter mountains, yet still portable enough to be read in other places too.

All the classic mountaineering ridges have been included, such as An Teallach, Liathach and the Aonach Eagach, along with the big gullies of the Northwest.
Also features a handful of easier journeys, which provide a nice step-up from winter walking.

North Wales Scrambles

A pocket guidebook covering 50 of the best mountain scrambles in Snowdonia – short scrambles near to the road, through to outrageous journeys across Snowdonia’s rugged landscape.

Designed to be used on a mountainside – clean layout, precise topos and bespoke maps – but is good to peruse at any time.

All the well-known classic scrambles of the area are included, such as the North Ridge of Tryfan and the traverse of Crib Goch. The book also features a selection of excellent ‘off the beaten track’ scrambles – routes that will take you to the less-frequented cliffs and cwms of Snowdonia.
